| Sept 25-26:
RADIOHEAD
Thursday: Started my weekend early and treated myself to the sold out Radiohead concert @ the Hollywood Bowl. I went with my dorm mate Justin who I have not seen in almost a year. Radiohead gave a stellar performance. I almost lost it when they made the transition from "Airbag" to "Paranoid Android" and did an encore of "Everything Is In Its Right Place" and "Street Spirit(fade out)". Thom Yorke decided to have a little fun by dancing frantically to the band's more upbeat songs like "Myxamatosis" and "Where I End You Begin". It was too cute. He was so full of energy. The lighting of the show was perfect! Lots of bright lights in the background to complement each song. Also, they perform to a different setlist each night so we did not know what to expect. Lots of surprises. Justin and I even agreed that "Paranoid Android" was well worth the $62.50 alone(and maybe even the $30 that we spent on a shirt). Man, don't we feel like jackasses? Overall, fun evening. Thanks for coming Justin! =)

Friday: Round 2 of Radiohead @ the Hollywood Bowl with Kit and my other friend Justin. It was just like back in the days when we were in college--simply CRAZY! And so the story begins: Since I did not want to repeat my mistake in paying almost $20 for STACK parking, I decided to park a few streets away and walk to the Bowl along with all the other Radiohead weirdoes. Met up with Kit and Justin. 2 miles later...we finally arrive @ the Bowl, only to find out that alcohol was not permitted. DAMMIT! Justin had just bought a 12 pack for all of us to share so we were now forced to guzzle it down before entering the premise. I was so full that I could not drink anymore so we decided to sneak them in our pockets. Got caught and was forced to throw them away. What a sad thing to do? But we managed to sneak one in--probably the most expensive beer. Had to take 3 escalators just to get to our section. As we breezed through 15,000+ people, we finally managed to get to our less than perfect seats. It made my seat the night before seem like front row. Still, the view was not bad. I even snuck up closer during the show to get a better view of Thom. The night was absolutely perfect. I was mesmerized from finish to start. It definitely kicked me in the ass. "Sit Down, Stand Up", "There, There", "Fake Plastic Trees", "National Anthem", and "No Surprises" were amongst my favourites. And yes, Justin C.--they performed "Fake Plastic Trees" and "Creep" on this special night. Wish you would have been there!!! Ended up seeing a lot of people there which included Scott of Crystal Method and his wife Brandy, Irvine peeps, and my club friends. My friend was lucky and spotted Meg Ryan, Alyson Hannigan, Jack Black, and Stephen Dorff amongst the crowd. Bastard! Amazing night...and at one point, we all wished that the evening would not end and that Thom would continue to serenade us with his ghostly voice...

Setlist #2: [1] 2+2=5 [2] Sit Down. Stand Up. [3] Where I End and You Begin [4] Kid A [5] Backdrifts [6] Morning Bell [7] My Iron Lung [8] I Might Be Wrong [9] Creep [10] Sail To The Moon [11] Big Ideas [12] Paranoid Android [13] Punch Up At a Wedding [14] Go To Sleep [15] The Gloaming [16] Idioteque [17] No Surprises [18] There There first encore: [19] You And Whose Army? [20] National Anthem [21] Wolf at the Door [22] Fake Plastic Trees second encore: [23] Airbag [24] Everything In Its Right Place
And if you didn't get a chance to see them live, check out their new album "Hail to the Thief". Very political.
